Go to this
website and find the longitude and latitude of the capital
city from the country of the Olympic winners that you chose.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Under "//Map Source," choose "Microsoft VE (labels)."
- Under the "//Search" field, enter the name of the
country you would like to view. Click the small magnifying
glass to search. Wait for the map to display.
- Click on "//Location." Then, click on the hometown of
your selected medallist. The latitude and longitude will
display under location. Record this on your sheet.
- Follow the same steps for your other Olympic medal
winner.
4. Next you will
find geographical data for Austrialia and New
Zealand. Record your data using the data sheet in the
resource area. Make sure you save to your server space. -USE
YOUR CHECKLIST- Include the following information in your
article: climate, population density, culture (example-
language, food, clothing etc...), per capita GDP,
natural resources, latitude, and longitude of capital city.
****You will have several days to complete step 4 and
5.
5. Print your data sheet with name
(view>header and footer> type name and social studies
teacher) Print. Take your data sheet to Lang. Arts class.
Write short article using your data. Remember you are a
writer for a geographic magazine. Example Click

6. Graphic Representation - Open
Microsoft Office Excel. Create a graphic representation
of any of the topics researched, example, comparing United
States, Mexico, New Zealand and
Australia tempatures, populations, climates, GDP,
etc...
7. Australia, New
Zealand- Open a multi-media application such as power
point, publisher, photo-story, Movie Maker, or any other
application approved by your instructor. Your
presentation must incorporate Olympic data, geographical
facts, glossary and other information about the
countries you selected in step 1. Add your data to your
multi-media presentation.
8. Finalize your multi-media
project.
Review your rubric and
checklist, make sure you have all elements required.
The top projects will be chosen to be posted to the
website, compete in the district technology fair with a
chance of competing in the state TCEA competition. Remember to
use the rubric and checklist provided from this website.
