Mrs. Klinkerman received the Distinguished Service Award for 2002. This award is presented by the Texas Association of School Nurses- Region IV. This award is given in appreciation of her outstanding dedication and accomplishments in the promotion of school nursing and children's health.

I want to review guidelines for communicable diseases with you. Children with an infectious or contagious disease should stay home until the danger of transmitting the disease has passed.

FEVER (100.4 DEGREES or greater)- The student must be free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.

STREP SORE THROAT- The student can be readmitted after 24 hours from the date the antibiotic treatment has begun.

HEAD LICE- The student can be readmitted when student is free of lice and nits.

VOMITING or DIARRHEA- Your child should stay at home if they have these symptoms during the night or in the morning.

PINK EYE (CONJUNCTIVITIS)- The student may be readmitted with written doctor's statement.
