Built on the foundation of long-standing collaboration between the District, Harris County Department of Education and San Jacinto Community College, the Deepwater Early Learning Center is an outgrowth of the District's Family Centered Schools Initiative.

Having seen parents benefit from the adult learning components of the initative, the District desired to integrate adult learning with the instruction of children. Since recent research has clearly attested to the effectiveness of teaching children when they are young and particularly receptive to learning, it was the District's vision to combine these two emphases-adult learning with the instruction of the very young children-into a new dimension in service to young children and their families.
