Methods & Strategies: What ways can you pre-write?
free writing: let yourself go free. Write whatever comes to your mind, no matter what it is. This is an extended writing time.
wet ink: similar to free writing in the sense that you write whatever comes to mind. This method is for a short period of time (2-3 minutes). Write fast and furious, never letting the pen stop.
journaling:
writing roulette: this is a fun way to quilt together a story. In a group everyone starts a story and writes for 2-3 minutes. When time is up, you pass on your paper, while at the same time receiving someone else's. Nobody gets the same paper twice. Each time you add to the story. After passing and adding on to the stories several times the final writer completes the story.
image streaming: imagine yourself in another place and describe what you see from a 1st person point of view.
visualization:
graphic organizers: charts that help you organize your thoughts and ideas.
