    Are you interested in how city government operates--specifically City of Deer Park city government?     Unless you are able to exempt, seniors are going to need to take the TSIA to demonstrate college-level readiness in reading, writing and math. You must take it prior to enrolling in college.   • Visiting Colleges

    Seniors have TWO days to visit the colleges they are serious about attending. Juniors, you have one day. Make sure you return with a letter on the school letterhead stating you were there for a visit, dated (not on a weekend date) and a signature. You can ususally obtain this from the admissions office.

    Visit the website of the college you are interested in attending--or get into your Naviance account for access to your college's website!  Then schedule a visit to SEE the campus.

Another place you should search for scholarships is the actual college you will be attending, your parents' employers, organizations you've participated or been a part of, etc. There are so many search engines out there (Peterson's, Fastweb, etc).     The Voice of Democracy Scholarship is provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and is for 9-12 grade students.  The program provides students the opportunity to express themselves in regards to democratic ideas and principles.     The HGA will be awarding scholarships to college-bound seniors in the following categories:  General Studies, Technical Studies (Engineering and Geosciences), and the Randy Arnaud Memorial Junior Golf scholarship. Only the Arnaud scholarship requires golf experience. There is one online application accessible at the link below. Go to this link for all the many details and to apply for one (or all, if eligible) of these scholarships. Deadline to apply is April 28, 2017, at 5 pm. See Mrs. White (awhite@dpisd.org) to request your official transcript. All other requested information should be uploaded on the online application by you.
