Hello friends, welcome back! I was so happy to see all my bright smiling faces.  We had an unexpected break from our routine, but the kids have been doing awesome.  Way to go!!! We have a lot of work to do. We have delved into colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and much more.  We have practiced cutting and pasting.  We have been doing a lot of practice with writing our names.  We have been making predictions in the stories that we read.  It is very important that you are all reading books at home.  We are working on letter and number recognition.  If you need extra practice, it is important to have some exposure to the letters at home.  I put a conference time in your child’s folder today.  Please sign the note, and return it on Monday.  Folders always go home on Friday, and need to be returned by the following Monday.  Green folders go home on Friday as well.  Green folders will go home any day that I need to mark in it.  It needs to be signed and returned to school.

Ike created a few changes………..

I wanted to let you know that I will not be sending home any homework for the next week or so to help our little ones adjust to school once again. Also, our open house has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 6:30-7:30. Hope to see you here! Monday September 29, 2008 will be a regular school day.  Grandparents Day has been rescheduled to Friday, October 10, 2008 from 8:30-9:30.  I know with everything that has happened, some of you may need some assistance. If your family, or if you know of a family, that may need some help, please call me or the front office, so that we can help. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.  My number is 832-668-8100.

Take Care,

Welcome to Kindergarten!!!

I’m so excited to be a part of Dabbs Elementary!

My name is Leah Ethington (formally Maples).  I’m originally from Houston Texas, but I lived in
St. Louis Missouri for the majority of my life.  I enjoy teaching, reading, music, soccer, running, dancing, spending time with my family, and watching a good movie.   I have had a love for teaching for as long as I can remember.   I have worked with children for 12 years, and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my time.   I believe very strongly in character education, and believe opportunities for growth in this area are presented daily in the classroom.    I hope to inspire students to become life long learners, and excel in all subject areas.   There is nothing more exciting than watching children learn.  It is my goal to help them become positive, productive, and well rounded members of society.  I also hope to inspire students to be honest, loving, hard-working, and live their lives with integrity.

This blog will help to connect home to school with the use of technology.  I plan to post weekly, so we can keep in touch :)  We are going to have a wonderful year!

Thanks,

Leah Ethington
