May is here and there are lots of things going on at school. Be sure to check folders daily for important information about upcoming events.
We were sad on Monday that our butterflies weren’t in our room to greet us, but we are happy that we were able to share them with everyone by letting them go. Look at last week’s blog to see pictures of us raising butterflies. This week we our discussing special people and our family. We are hoping to go to the post office and Dow Park on Wednesday. However, we may have to have a picnic in our room instead. Don’t forget to bring a sack lunch on Wednesday.
This week is the last week we will be taking guided reading books home, so please send them back by May 12th.

Last week we learned about zoo animals. We used animal crackers to practice some math facts. Thank you to all of the parents for sending animal crackers
This week we will be learning about dinosaurs and fossils. We will be eating dinosaur food too. What do you think dinosaur food is made out of? We have been keeping a close eye on the caterpillars in the classroom. Look how much they have grown and changed:

On Tuesday we had three more butterflies for a total of 4. It is so much fun to see the butterflies come out of the chrysalis that we have to stop class to watch :) I hope that they get a bit more active tomorrow for some more pictures.
