The End of the Year

May 4th, 2008 by Stacy Reed

The end of the year is fast approaching!  The students will be showing off what they have learned during the past year by completing the end of year benchmarks.  I will be individually testing each student to determine their independent reading level.  The students have grown so much academically this year.  You should be very proud of the progress they have made!

February 3rd, 2008 by Stacy Reed

The 100th day of school in on Thursday, February 7th.  The students will participate in an activity rotation to celebrate the day.  Each class will visit the various classrooms in 2nd grade and work on a special activity focusing on the 100th day of second grade.  The kids will have a day filled with fun!

Conferences

January 25th, 2008 by Stacy Reed

The students worked hard on their benchmarks over the past 2 weeks; now we will begin taking a closer look at how to find the correct answer to each question during class.  I will be meeting with parents to review their student’s tests.  Some of the scores are going to look ’scary’, but don’t forget we are exactly half way through the school year and the tests contained information your student is suppose to know at the end of the year.

Benchmarks

January 11th, 2008 by Stacy Reed

We have a reading and math benchmark coming up in January.  Benchmark tests are given to help the teacher know what areas each student needs further instruction in.  Please make sure your child goes to bed early the night before a benchmark and eats breakfast at home or at school the day of the benchmark.  Parent/teacher conferences will take place after the benchmarks have been graded and analyzed to discuss the results.
