Next week, we will be very busy getting ready for Mother’s Day. We will be going on a field trip to the Deer Park Post Office on Wednesday. Please remember to return the permission slip, so that your child will be able to go. We will be stopping at Dow park on the way back to school for a picnic and fun on the playground.
Next week, I will doing our end of year testing. This will show how much your child has grown academically this school year.
Please continue reviewing high-frequency words by having your child read and write them.
Thanks,
Mrs. Tiemann

This week we learned about farm animals. We had fun making sounds that farm animals make. We also, made butter. First, we put whipping cream into a jar. Then, we shook it up until it turned into butter. Making butter is hard work and it made our arms hurt, but it was worth it because we got to eat our butter on crackers. Yum, it was good.
Next week we will be learning about animals that live in the zoo. Don’t forget to send a small box of animal crackers. We will be using them for an activity later on in the week.
Have a great week and keep reading and writing. First grade will be here soon!!

This last week was a great one for our class. We learned all about insects. On Wednesday, we learned about bees and then we ate crackers and honey. It was fun and sticky. On Thursday, we learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and three more caterpillars were added to our butterfly habitat. On Friday, we made bugs using different kinds of food. Everyone had fun creating a bug that could be eaten.

Next week we will be learning all about the farm. We will be making butter from whipping cream and writing about our favorite farm animal.
Please ask your child to tell you what they learn at school each day. Continue working on reading and writing simple sentences at home.

We have been learning about insects. We have many interesting activities planned including watching a caterpillar change into a butterfly. We have already released one butterfly and hope to release more next week. We are also planning on making insects we can eat. Please ask your children to tell you all about what they learn at school.

This week we planted seeds to help us learn how plants grow. We also, made dirt cake. This consisted of
chocolate pudding & crushed cookies(dirt). We also added a few worms(gummy)to make it a little more fun. Check back each week to see how our plants are growing.

I hope everyone is having a great spring break and I hope you haven’t forgotten to read and write. We will be publishing a new story when we return to school and getting ready for a Writer’s Workshop Celebration.
Today is the first day of spring and we will be learning all about this special season when we return to school.
Friday, March 28 is the last day of this 9 week period. I will be evaluating each student for their report cards next week, so guided readers will not be sent home until evaluations are competed.
Enjoy the rest of Spring break and have a wonderful Easter. See you next Tuesday!
