On behalf of the Board of Trustees, staff, students, and community of Deer Park Schools, welcome to our website. It's impossible to mention all the things that make our schools some of the best in the state, but I hope that, by spending a few minutes viewing the various school and campus websites, you're able to see that Deer Park is a school district like no other.
You might be thinking, "He's the superintendent. He has to say these things." And you would be right. But the honest truth is that, while it's partly my job to promote our schools, it really doesn't require much work at all to do so. That's because our students, staff, and community do the job just fine on their own.
Our students consistently perform well on state-mandated accountability tests. But DPISD is about so much more than standardized tests. (If you’d like to learn more about our instruction program, simply roll your computer’s mouse over the “ACADEMICS” tab near the top of the page.) Our highest priority is to provide a safe learning community where students are able to build on their strengths and discover their talents and skills.
We have award-winning fine arts programs, successful athletic teams that emphasize good sportsmanship on and off the field, Career and Technical Education options that can help students make a successful transition into their future careers, and hundreds of ways for students to build connections with their school and community. In fact, if you’d like to learn more about our students and employees’ accomplishments, I encourage you to take a look at our Evidence of Excellence Blog. It’s full of photo galleries and short stories that show why Deer Park is such a special District. You can view it at www.dpisd.org/excellence.
Our students and employees also donate their time and financial support to a number of organizations throughout the school year, from local food banks to our armed forces to dozens of non-profit organizations. Our District receives fantastic support from our parents, business and industry partners, and community, and we give that same level of support back.
I am a former science teacher, coach, campus administrator, and, most recently, deputy superintendent, but I am also a graduate of our school system. That means I've been a part of Deer Park schools for most of my life. Deer Park has been very good to me, and it’s my sincere hope that each and every child who enters our schools has that same experience.
If you're a student, parent, or community member, thank you for your support. If you're considering a move to Deer Park ISD, I think you’ll find that there’s plenty to love about our schools and our area.
Again, thanks for visiting our website. If there's anything I can do to make your visit a better experience, please let me know.
