Deer Park ISD students who long to grab a rod and reel, drop their line into a pond, and feel the exciting tug of a fish on the other end will have a chance to make their dream a reality thanks to the District’s upcoming Fish Fest. Scheduled from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, Fish Fest will take place at the District’s Ag Center, 6804 Line Drive in Pasadena near McCoy’s Building Supply. All three ponds at the center will be freshly stocked with hundreds of fish. The event is free to children age 14 and under, and prizes are available to children who raise at least $10 or more in sponsorships.
Participants of all age groups will have the opportunity to catch as many fish as they can during the catch-and-release event. Prizes will be awarded for the most fish caught, the longest fish, and the top three fundraisers from each age group. Each participant will receive a ribbon and a Fish Fest certificate.
The Deer Park FFA Booster Club will also host a fish fry from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the McCoy’s parking lot, 6100 Red Bluff in Pasadena. Each plate costs $10 and includes catfish, hush puppies, French fries, coleslaw, and a drink.
