English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

and

Business Information Computer Systems (BCIS)

Welcome to Deer Park High School!

My name is Cinnamin Rivers and I am excited to be your teacher! This year, you can increase your confidence in English. Please call or email me with questions and ideas about how to help you. My number is 832.668.7200 and emails at crivers@dpisd.org. To translate your words to English, please go to www.google.com/language_tools and then copy the English text into your email.

This year, we will study the English language by using the Internet, classroom materials, books, videos, and games. You’ll enjoy a comfortable environment where it is safe to try out new skills: reading, writing, speaking, and performing English. I look forward to working with each of you and your families to help you succeed at your financial goals. Knowing English and your native language gives you an advantage over all other students—and you deserve to make your educational studies pay!

Our class is 2-hours Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.                On Wednesday and Thursday, we meet for one hour each day. Half of our class time is focused on English acquisition and half on Microsoft Office computer information system. You can gain two credits during our year together: an English credit and a technology credit!
