The Orchestra Staff of Deer Park ISD would like to encourage all parents to seek out and engage a private lesson instructor for their child who is in the String Program.
Few performers ever achieve higher levels of playing without the assistance of a qualified private lesson instructor. All of the consistantly successful instrumental programs in this area have a majority of their students taking private lessons on a weekly basis, year around.
The private lesson instructor can lead the students through detailed, personalized, instruction for which the classroom teacher simply does not have opportunities to give. This instruction can be either advanced or remedial, depending on the student's individual needs.
Private instructors typically charge a fee based on the number of years of their experience and/or the success of their students. However, many excellent teachers, with hundreds of successful students over the years, charge very reasonable rates far below the "market standard."
Private lessons are available through the School District, at some music stores, and in the homes of some of the private instructors. For a list of private instructors that your child's teacher feels are qualified and where they give lessons, please contact your child's teacher.
Orchestra Directors in Deer Park ISD are not allowed to charge their own classroom students for private lessons.
