National Junior
Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society
was formed for the purpose of promoting outstanding scholarship and other
qualities that make for a well-rounded individual. It is a way to recognize
students who excel in academics. Candidates for membership shall be
currently enrolled in the seventh or eighth grade and must have at least
a 90 or above overall average in math, language arts, science, and social
studies each six weeks grading period of their qualifying year. They must
maintain this average to remain a member. Students who are in enriched
courses receive bonus points on their average for the purpose of eligibility.
Candidates for membership cannot have more than two "N"'s in
conduct during his/her qualifying year. Candidates suspended or sent to
CIA or ISC will be ineligible for membership. Candidacy for membership
will be based on the current year's grades and conduct. Once admitted,
students must follow the bylaws of the National Junior Honor Society. The sponsor will check grades (conduct and academic) of current members at the end of each reporting period to see that eligibility is maintained.
