PRECALCULUS SYLLABUS

Supplies: 3 ring binder or folder with pockets and brads
Spiral Notebook
#2 pencils and notebook paper
GRAPHING Calculator for home use (optional)

Geometry Prerequisite: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II

Course Description: Precalculus is a college preparatory course. The course is centered on an in-depth study of functions, their graphs, properties and applications. Graphing calculators are used throughout the course to help students investigate and visualize mathematical concepts.

 

Semester 1

Relations, functions and their graphs
Polynomial functions
Rational functions
Function summaries
Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
Vector Basics

Semester 2

Circular trigonometric functions
Inverse trigonometric functions
Conic Sections
Parametric equations

 

 

Grading Policy: In accordance with the math department policy, grades will be averaged using the following weights:

Homework- 20%
Quizzes -20%
Tests -60%

Hints for Success:

1. Take notes carefully
2. Use your notes while you are working your assignments.
3. Get help when you don't understand.
4. Complete all assignments conscientiously.
5. Study for each test.
