The Board of Trustees recently named Steve Corry as the next assistant superintendent for administration and Whitney Weaver as the District’s new director of career and technical education.
Corry spent the first two years of his career as a social studies teacher and coach in LaPorte ISD but moved to Deer Park ISD in 1992. For eight years, he worked as a junior high and high school teacher and coach before being named assistant principal of Bonnette Junior High in 2000. He accepted a similar position at Deer Park High School-South Campus three years later. Corry worked as South Campus’ dean of instruction from 2007-2013 before being named the school’s associate principal. He became principal of South Campus in 2015.
Corry received his master of education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2000. He earned his bachelor of science degree in 1989 from Texas A&M University.
Corry fills a vacancy left by Stephen Harrell, who was recently named the District’s next superintendent.
Weaver began her career as a family consumer science teacher at South Campus in 2002. In 2014, she was named coordinator of career and technical education and also served as South Campus CTE department chairperson.
In 2000, Weaver earned her bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech University. She received her master of science degree from Texas Tech in 2002.
Weaver replaces longtime CTE Director David Berrier, who recently announced his retirement.
These changes are effective July 1.
