Parent Message: Water update and curbside meal service returns

THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM DEER PARK ISD:

It was great to see our students return to school today, and we were encouraged to see how well things went today.  We are also writing to share some additional details about tomorrow and the rest of the week.

WATER SAFETY

Yesterday, the City of Deer Park lifted its boil water notice, and earlier today, the City of Pasadena did the same.  Today, our custodial staff members continued to purge water fountains and no-touch water stations.  Starting tomorrow, we will allow students and employees to access these water dispensers.  Of course, individuals are welcome to continue bringing their own water from home.

CURBSIDE MEAL SERVICE RETURNS

As of today, Feb. 22, DPISD will continue to offer curbside meal pick-up for students who are remote learning from home as well as other children in the community. The program is funded by the state government.

Meals will be served five days a week (on official school days, according to the District Calendar), and meals are free to all students and children ages 18 and under.

To participate in the program, the parent must have a meal pick-up card for 2020-21 (summer meal tags will not be accepted). On the first visit to meal pick-up, the parent must bring all children or provide each child’s name and student identification (ID) number, and a meal pick-up card will be issued to the parent. There is a limit of one breakfast and one lunch per child.

Children do not have to be present, but the parent must have the meal pick-up card.
