Limited Open Enrollment
Parents of children who live outside Deer Park ISD’s boundaries will soon have another chance to enroll their children in selected DPISD schools as the district extends its successful Limited Open Enrollment [LOE] program. From April 26-30, 2021, the District will accept applications for enrollment from non-resident students.
Assistant Superintendent for Administration, Steve Corry, described the program as a benefit for both the District and parents. “Limited Open Enrollment is a win-win situation,” Corry explained. “By allowing non-resident students to enroll in Deer Park, we’ve given these children the opportunity to benefit from our outstanding instructional program. The program helps the District because state funding is based on enrollment, and, for each additional student enrolled in DPISD, the District retains more of its local tax revenue.”
Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis to fill a limited number of available spaces. Limited space is available at all schools except Early Childhood Center, San Jacinto Elementary, Deer Park Junior High and Deer Park High School-Wolters Campus.
“Students who are accepted and enrolled in our schools through this program will be allowed to complete their public education in Deer Park ISD,” Corry said. “However, LOE students are expected to strictly abide by the District’s policies and rules, and any violation could result in the revocation of a student’s enrollment.”
Parents of students who enroll through the LOE program are also responsible for transporting their children to and from school.
