Deer Park ISD

Congratulations to Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Ronda Kouba, who was recently named a 2018 Career & Technical Association of Texas Champion of the Year.  Kouba was one of only two recipients chosen to represent the entire Gulf Coast area.

Director of CTE David Berrier said Kouba’s continued support for the program as a high school principal and a District administrator has resulted in significant new options for students.  “She was a member of our CTE Advisory Committee and was interested in providing CTE classes that offered great career opportunities for students,” he said. “Her support has been an instrumental factor in the growth of our CTE department.”

Carpenter student helps others "One School at a Time"

Carpenter Elementary

Team Deer Park is extra-proud of Carpenter Elementary student Emilee Bigley!  Before the start of school this year, Emilee raised money and collected backpacks and school supplies, which she donated to students in need.  Emilee calls her program “One School at a Time.”  She contacted family members and companies where family and friends worked to ask for donations.  She collected enough school supplies to full 18 backpacks for Carpenter students.  In fact, her campaign was so successful that she was able to provide an additional 18 backpacks for two more schools (one in Crosby ISD and one in Santa Fe ISD).  “She collected 18 backpacks for this year,” Principal Suzanne Holcomb said.  “Next year, she plans to donate 19 for the 2019 school year!”  Emilee (left) is pictured with her niece, Dabbs Elementary student Jaci Biglee, who helped her deliver backpacks to Carpenter.
