Curriculum Framework Statement

Deer Park ISD curriculum is created by teachers, for teacher use, as a tool to guide instruction and monitor pacing throughout the year. All curriculum documents are designed to reflect the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Statements (TEKS) that are approved by the State Board of Education and mandated in all public schools in Texas. The Department of Instruction (DOI) forms teacher committees at every grade level and in each content area to revise curriculum on a yearly basis using assessment results to analyze gaps in student achievement. Teachers, administrators and DOI personnel continually monitor instruction using these guiding documents. We do not purchase curriculum from outside sources, nor do we use pre-packaged curriculum documents.
