Student Trainer Application

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS please submit your completed application with signatures, your references, and your handwritten essay to your school counselor's office.  The counselors at your campus will then forward your application to the Athletic Trainers at the south campus for you.  You can also scan and submit your application electronically to us directly at [email protected].

3/6/2026.

 

If you are interested in applying for the Deer Park Sports Medicine Student Trainer Program for the 2025-2026 school year, simply complete these 3 steps.  The application can be downloaded by clicking the link above or at the bottom of this page.

 

Step #1:
Complete a Student Trainer Application.  You and your parent must sign the application.  Be sure to read all parts of the Student Trainer Job Description.

 

Step #2:
List 3 DPISD coaches, teachers, or administrators.  It is recommended that you include at least one coach.  You will need to list their name AND their email.

Please notify your references prior to submitting your application.  Each reference listed on your application will receive an email requesting a reference upon receipt of your application.

 

Step #3:
Hand write a short essay describing why you are interested in becoming a student trainer and what qualities you have that can separate you from the other applicants.  Use the essay page provided in the application.

 

 

 

ONCE YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION, WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?

 

Once the Athletic Trainers at the south campus receive your application, each of the references you list will receive an email with an electronic reference form for them to complete.  We will then evaluate your academic, attendance, and discipline history.  Once we review all of the applicants, we will then select those students that best meet the criteria for our program.  We will then coordinate a one-on-one interview at your campus through your counselor’s office.  After thorough review of your application, references, essay, and criteria, and from our interview with you, we will then select the best candidates for our program.  If we select you, one of the staff Athletic Trainers will notify you personally.  We will stay in contact with you through the remaining of the school year and supply you with the necessary dates as to when to report towards the end of summer.
