COVID-19 Update - April 17, 2020

The following message was emailed to all parents and employees on April 17, 2020.

THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM DEER PARK ISD SUPERINTENDENT VICTOR WHITE:

This afternoon, Governor Greg Abbott announced at a press conference that all Texas public schools will remain closed to in-person instruction for the remainder of the current school year.  Thus, all school-related student activities are also canceled.

Deer Park ISD students will continue instruction through the District’s successful eLearning program. We will also continue our drive-up meal program (updated details about the meal program will be provided in a separate message this weekend).

High school administrators are already making alternate plans for Deer Park High School graduation, and we will share details of the plans next week.

While we miss regular interaction with our students in our classrooms, the health and safety of our students remains our highest priority.  This decision was made by the governor out of concern for public safety, and we recommend that families continue to follow social distancing guidelines.  For more information on preventing the spread of COVID-19, go to www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.

Thank you.
