    My Family

I graduated from Whittier College in California with both my bachelor's and master's degrees.  I have worked as a Speech Pathologist in California, Florida and Texas over the past 40 years.  For about 10 of those years I taught Intensive Reading and was the Literacy Coach in a high school in Florida.  I am married and have two daughters, and a grandson! When not at school I enjoy reading, traveling, playing with my two rescue dogs and being a Grandma!
I firmly believe that ALL students need a strong language and reading background in order to be successful in the academic setting.  Language is the basis for reading and students that struggle with their language and reading skills tend to struggle academically.  Students can improve their skills by having conversations with parents and peers about what they have read and learned about during the day. The daily practice of talking and reading will help to improve the academic skills!
