As an educator I has been fortunate to work with a diverse group of people and students who represent a wide range of multicultural backgrounds. For the last 10 years I have served elementary through high school students as a teacher, counselor, college and career adviser, and mentor.

Throughout this time many students have sought out my experience and insight often confiding in me about their personal struggles while seeking advice on how to navigate their emotional hardships, family struggles, educational challenges, and the like. These consistent experiences led to my desire to obtain a Masters of Education degree in School Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas as well as pursue a license as a professional counselor.

I believe all students need and deserve a solid educational foundation as well as a dependable support system within the school that will encourage them to grow into responsible, successful adults. I believe school counselors should provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program to address the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. Partnering with other educators and family members, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students are equipped with the knowledge and the skills to function as productive members of society.

As a school counselor I will advocate for every student to have a positive learning environment that promotes growth, self-expression, and critical thinking. As students matriculate through the school system, my role as counselor will be to help them work through the struggles they may face with dignity and insight holding onto the hopes and dreams that childhood will surely bring and encourage them to pursue those dreams with fervor and tenacity. I will also encourage those who have lost their way to find the route back to themselves and assist in directing them back to their chosen path of success.
