Tonight, the Board of Trustees approved several recommendations for new campus administrators at Deer Park Elementary, Bonnette Junior High, and Deer Park High School-South Campus.

Whitney Rich was named principal at DPE.  She began her career in 2010 as a fourth-grade teacher at Carpenter Elementary.  She was eventually named department chairperson at Carpenter before accepting a fourth-grade position at DPE.  In 2017, she was named assistant principal of DPE.

Rich earned her bachelor of science degree from Sam Houston State University in May 2010.  In May 2013, she completed the requirements for her master of education degree from Lamar University.

She replaces longtime DPE Principal Lisa McLaughlin, who recently announced her retirement.

The Board also approved two changes to the administrative staff at DPHS-SC.  Evette Powell was named dean of instruction, and Amy Zavesky was named an assistant principal.

Powell started her career in 1995 as a science teacher at DPHS-Wolters Campus, and she eventually became the school’s assistant principal.  In 2007, she was named the assistant principal of DPHS-North Campus, and in 2012, she accepted a similar position at South Campus.

In May 1994, Powell earned her bachelor of arts from Baylor University, and in May 2001, she received her master of science degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

She fills a vacancy left by the retirement of current Dean of Instruction Jill Marsh.

Zavesky began career in 2005 as an English teacher at South Campus, a position she held through the current school year.

She earned her bachelor of arts degree from UHCL in December 2005.  In December 2009, she received her master of science degree from UHCL.

Zavesky fills an opening resulting from Powell’s new assignment.

The final administrative change filled an assistant principal vacancy at Bonnette Junior High.  Amy Cramer began her career in Deer Park in 1997 as a clerk in the Department of Instruction.  She spent several years as a support professional, eventually becoming school secretary at Fairmont Junior High.  In 2009, she became a teacher at DPHS-NC and, three years later, she was named math department chairperson.  In 2014, she became the math instructional facilitator at South Campus.

She earned her bachelor of arts degree from UHCL in May 2009.  In May 2017, she earned her master of science degree from UHCL.

Cramer fills a vacancy left by the resignation of Kelley Harwerth.
