Sixth Graders to Receive iPads on January 5th

Empower
With the increase in digital resources for teaching and learning, it has become important for each student to have an appropriate technology device available for his or her learning. Providing technology devices empowers students and teachers to transform learning inside and outside classrooms into interactive, exciting and engaging experiences.

Sixth graders at DPJH are scheduled to receive their district-issued iPads on January 5th.  They will get an iPad Air 2, a red and black Gumdrop case, and a charger brick and USB cable.  Students will need to supply their own earbuds, and if they would like a stylus or a keyboard, they will need to supply their own.  Earbuds are for sale in the library for $2, and we have $5 styluses for sale as well.

In order to receive their iPad, each student must have a signed iPad Oath on file and pay the $50 iPad insurance fee.  This insurance covers the iPad in the event of accidental damage.  If the iPad isn't damaged in sixth grade, the insurance remains in effect for 7th grade (and 8th grade, if it remains undamaged) without additional payment required.

We look forward to this last step in transitioning Deer Park Junior High to a 1:1 environment where every student is empowered to learn anywhere with an iPad.  Please email any questions or concerns to Leslie Kilbourn, Campus Technology Integration Specialist at lkilbourn@dpisd.org.
