A Clear Plan for Safe DPISD Events
This policy applies to all events held at these facilities: football, softball, baseball, basketball, soccer, high school graduation, and other district activities. The goal is to enhance safety and speed up entry for all guests.

WHEN DOES THE NEW CLEAR BAG POLICY TAKE EFFECT?
The policy takes effect beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
WHICH FACILITIES ARE AFFECTED BY THE NEW POLICY?
The clear bag policy affects events and activities at Abshier Stadium, McLean Stadium at North Campus, Watkins Gym, the North Campus girls volleyball gym, and the main softball and baseball fields. Events include, but are not limited to, athletic competitions at the listed facilities (football, softball, baseball, basketball, soccer) as well as high school graduation.
WHAT ARE THE APPROVED BAGS UNDER THE POLICY?
- Clear bags - Ziplocs, totes, and clear backpacks (clear bags must not exceed 12” x 6" x 12” and material must be completely transparent)
- Diaper bags - Allowed only when accompanied by a small child
- Non-transparent small purses/bags - Must not exceed 6" x 9" x 5" (Includes purselets for medically necessary items; subject to inspection.)
- Small clutches or fanny packs up to 5.5" x 8.5" are permitted
WHAT ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED?
- Coolers
- Briefcases
- Non-clear backpacks
- Duffel bags
- Cinch sacks
- Grocery bags
WHY IS THE POLICY BEING ENFORCED NOW?
The District Safety Office constantly looks for ways to improve safety at our schools and facilities, and this policy is one of several ways we are improving security.
WILL CLEAR BAGS BE INSPECTED?
Yes. All bags will be checked at the entrance. Clear bags help the process move faster.
DOES THE POLICY INCLUDE EVENTS AT THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER?
No. The clear bag policy does not apply to PAC events at this time.
WHAT IF SOMEONE ARRIVES WITH A NON-APPROVED BAG?
The person will be asked to return the bag to his/her vehicle. DPISD cannot hold items at the gate or ticket booth.
ARE ALL PURSES PROHIBITED?
No. Small clutch purses (no larger than a hand) are allowed. Larger purses are not permitted. Refer to the Clear Bag Flyer and website for measurements.
WHAT ABOUT DIAPER BAGS?
Diaper bags are allowed only when an infant or small child is present with the parent/adult.
DOES THE POLICY APPLY TO ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS?
No, the policy does not apply to elementary or junior high events. However, elementary or junior high students who attend high school event at included facilities must follow the clear bag policy.
CAN FANS BRING STADIUM SEATS OR CHAIR BACKS?
Yes.
ARE OTHER DISTRICTS USING CLEAR BAG POLICIES?
Yes. Many surrounding districts have a similar clear bag policy.
CAN PHONES, TABLETS, CAMERAS, OR BINOCULARS BE CARRIED WITHOUT A CLEAR BAG?
Yes, as long as they are carried in hand.
WHAT IF I HAVE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT I MUST CARRY?
Medically necessary items are permitted after inspection.
DO ALL PERSONAL ITEMS HAVE TO GO INTO A CLEAR BAG?
No. Guests may keep items such as keys, wallets, makeup, phones, and cards in their pockets or jacket if they prefer not to use a clear bag.
CAN I BRING A BLANKET?
Yes, but it will be inspected upon entry.
