Student trainers are an invaluable asset to the Staff Athletic Trainers working games and events.  Here are some of our senior student trainers assisting the Staff Athletic Trainers on the field during injuries.

On the sidelines, student trainers not only provide hydration, they work various jobs that keep our student athletes at peak levels throughout the game.  They cover cuts, scrapes, and turf burns as well as provide cooling ice towels to help rejuvenate the athletes.

When the coach calls a timeout to help focus and regroup the team for the next play, student trainers provide a quick shot of hydration and towels to replenish the athletes.

Deer Park High School Sports Medicine is not only a program, we are a family.  Here are some pictures from our 2022 Christmas Party.

Our student trainers participate in the annual Student Trainer Workshop hosted at local area high schools by GHATS, The Greater Houston Area Athletic Trainers Society.  Student trainers compete in poster competition and an ankle taping contest.  They also have the opportunity to get a peak at continuing education for the high school student athletic trainer as well as visit various colleges about possibly furthering their athletic training career.  Various vendors are also on site the students can visit with about the latest equipment and technology available in Athletic Training.

We held our annual Student Trainer Banquet on May 9, 2023.  The focus of our banquet is to recognize, praise, celebrate, and thank each of our student trainers for their dedication, loyalty, and professionalism it takes to be a student trainer.  We also announce our Annual Student Trainer Plate Awards.  And our finale of awards, we award the Rookie of the Year, Best Freshman Taper, Most Improved Taper, Most Valuable Trainer, and the out Student Trainer of the Year!
