At the close of Monday’s meeting of the Board of Trustees, the Board approved the administration’s recommendation to name Brett Day principal of Deer Park Junior High and Evette Powell principal of Deer Park High School-Wolters Campus.

In 2010, Day began his career as an educator at Pearland ISD’s Miller Junior High.  In 2014, he accepted a position in Deer Park ISD as a social studies teacher and coach at Fairmont Junior High.  Day was named assistant principal at Deer Park Junior High in 2017.

In 2013, Day earned his master of education degree from Lamar University.  He received his bachelor of arts degree from Texas A&M University in 2009.

Day fills a vacancy left by Tiffany Regan, who was recently named assistant superintendent for human resources.

Powell started her career in 1995 as a science teacher at DPHS-Wolters Campus, and she eventually became the school’s assistant principal.  In 2007, she was named the assistant principal of DPHS-North Campus, and in 2012, she accepted a similar position at South Campus.  She was named to her current position as dean of instruction at South Campus in 2019.

In May 1994, Powell earned her bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University, and in May 2001, she received her master of science degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Powell replaces current Wolters Principal Clyde Skarke, who recently announced his retirement.

These changes are effective July 1.
