Deer Park High School - North Campus

Hello,

My name is Robert Martinez aka Coach Martinez, and this is my 9th year in education and my 5th consecutive year working in Special Education. I have the privilege of coaching the 9th grade girls basketball team here at North Campus. Coaching is an enormous passion of mine and I plan to make an everlasting imprint on the kids that I coach.

I come from a big family — I have seven siblings — and I bring that same sense of connection and support into my classroom / basketball team. 

My passion is teaching young minds to believe in themselves. Sometimes we don’t realize our potential until someone helps us see it. When I was in 2nd grade, my teacher, Mrs. Melia, clapped for me during class. That simple act made me feel so important that I still remember it 24 years later — and it remains one of the reasons I chose to become a teacher.

I am excited for the opportunity to teach your children this year. I promise to bring energy, encouragement, and a belief in their abilities every single day. It’s going to be a great year!
