Speak at a Board Meeting
The Board of Trustees typically meets twice a month:
- Workshop Meeting: Second Monday
- Regular Business Meeting: Third Monday
At the start of each meeting, the public may speak for up to 3 minutes on any concern.
- If comments involve a complaint about an employee, the Board will hear them in a closed session, unless the employee requests a public discussion.
- See Board Policy BED (Local) for more information.
Formal Complaint Process
A formal complaint is used when a student, parent, or community member wants to appeal a campus decision to district administration and, if unresolved, to the Board of Trustees.
- See Board Policy FNG (Local) for complete information.
Steps for Filing a Complaint
- Start with the Teacher: Discuss the issue before requesting a Level One conference with the principal.
- Representation: A student may be represented by an adult at any level.
- Decision Notice: Announcing a decision in your presence counts as official communication.
Complaint Form Requirements
- Submit complaints in writing using the district form or by using the digital form provided below.
- Attach supporting documents or bring them to the Level One conference.
- After Level One, no new documents may be added unless they were previously unknown.
- Incomplete forms may be dismissed but can be refiled within the deadline.
