Online registration for all DPISD students begins on Monday, July 24. Parents will receive an email from the District through the SchoolStatus parent communication system.

RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION [any student who ended the 2022-23 school year in DPISD, including ALL students who ended the 2022-23 school year at the Early Childhood Center]

Parents will use Skyward Family Access to verify and update contact, emergency, and health information for each child. The online registration process is required for all returning DPISD students.

A DPISD Skyward Family Access account is necessary to complete the back to school online registration. All students, grades K-11, were given a Family Access login information sheet. This login information sheet was sent home at the end of school along with the report card. Please refer to this sheet if you need a reminder of your Family Access login.

Once the parent completes the first part of returning student registration online, he/she will receive a confirmation page. The page must be printed and taken to the child’s school to complete the registration process (school registration dates/times appear on the following pages).

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Carpenter Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students and pre-registered incoming kindergarteners on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Online registration will be completed at that time. Once required registration forms are completed, parents will receive their child’s teacher assignment for the 2023-24 school year. Carpenter Elementary will host a Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5 - 6 p.m. 

Dabbs Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Online registration can be completed at that time. Families will have the opportunity to take care of many beginning of the year tasks as well. Dabbs Elementary will host a Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 6 – 7 p.m. 

Deepwater Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students on Monday, July 31 and Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 - 7 p.m. Online registration will be completed at that time. School supplies and school spirit shirts may also be purchased at that time. Once required registration forms are completed, parents will receive their child’s teacher assignment for the 2023-24 school year. Deepwater Elementary will host a Meet the Teacher night for all students on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 6 - 7 p.m. 

Deer Park Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students and pre-registered incoming kindergarteners on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 1 - 6 p.m. DPISD online registration will be completed at that time. Families will be able to take care of many beginning of the year tasks at this event, and students will enjoy the opportunity to Spin to Win house points! Deer Park Elementary will host Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5 - 6 p.m. 

The Early Childhood Center will offer a prekindergarten registration opportunity on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the ECC (please complete the online application on our school website prior to attending). Parents may also come to the ECC on Tuesday, Aug. 8 to complete and print the required Skyward Online Enrollment in addition to this date, prekindergarten registration is included in the district wide student registration at South Campus on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Students will need to bring the printed form to the ECC’s Meet the Teacher event scheduled for Monday, Aug. 14, from 3 - 5 p.m. 

Fairmont Elementary will offer early registration (ONE DAY ONLY) for all returning students on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Online registration will be completed at that time. Once required registration forms are completed, parents will receive their child’s teacher assignment for the 2023-24 school year. Fairmont Elementary will host a Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5 - 6 p.m. 

Parkwood Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students on Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 4, from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Online registration will be completed at that time. All previously-registered kindergarten students (including former ECC students) should plan to attend as well. Parkwood will host a Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Kindergarten and first grade dual language orientation will meet at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria.

San Jacinto Elementary will offer early registration for all returning students and pre-registered incoming kindergarteners on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 3 - 6 p.m. DPISD online registration may be completed at that time. Families will be able to take care of many beginning of the year tasks at this event. San Jacinto Elementary will host Meet the Teacher night for all students on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. 

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS

Bonnette Junior High, Deer Park Junior High and Fairmont Junior High will offer an early two-part registration process to all incoming sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students who completed the 2022-23 school year in the District. The first part will consist of completing DPISD’s online registration, which opens on July 24 at 1 p.m. (This date is set by technology). Online registration allows parents and guardians to update all personal student information and replaces our traditional packet pick-up. Next, parents or guardians will need to print the online registration confirmation/verification sheet and bring the verification sheet to early registration. Early registration is a time when students will pick up their schedules and be given other pertinent back to school information. All applicable student fees must be paid at this time. Checks for fees should include the driver’s license number and the student’s name in the memo section. If you choose to pay your student’s fees with cash, please bring the exact amount owed. Fairmont Junior High parent orientation/open house will be Tuesday, Aub. 29, 6-7:30 p.m.

Deepwater Junior High will offer registration to all incoming sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students who completed the 2022-23 school year in the District with a two-part registration process. First, parents will complete DPISD’s online registration, which opens on July 24, and print the online registration verification sheet. Second, parents will bring the printed verification sheet to the campus on registration day: Thursday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. All applicable student fees must be paid at registration with cash. Fees include fees for elective classes ($30-40) and iPad fees ($50 for new students). Pirate Camp (sixth- grade orientation) will be Aug. 14th in the evening. Junior High Early Registration Dates/Times: 

  • Bonnette Junior High - Aug. 3, 7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Deepwater Junior High - Aug. 3, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Deer Park Junior High - Aug. 3, 10 a.m. -6 p.m.
  • Fairmont Junior High - Aug. 2, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
 

Bonnette Jr. High will have sixth- grade camp Aug. 14 from noon - 5 p.m. and we will have a sixth-grade parent session from 5 - 6 p.m. Sixth grade students/parents need to register by going to the Bonnette Jr. High website and click the tab under Latest News, or parents can also go directly to the link https://bjh.dpisd.org/apps/news/article/1771981.

Open house for all parents will be Aug. 28 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. 

Deer Park Junior High will have a sixth- grade phase-in day on Aug. 15 before school starts. The day will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. All sixth- graders are encouraged to attend. 

DPHS-NORTH CAMPUS

Deer Park High School – North Campus, the freshman high school campus, has streamlined the early registration process. Handouts and information previously included in the registration packets will be available online at the North Campus webpage under the “Registration” link. Please use the information below to navigate through the registration process: 

Early Registration for North Campus

  • July 24 at 1 p.m. – Forms and information previously included in the registration packet become available. Use Skyward login information to access and complete the steps as listed. Do not forget to click submit.
  • Once the online process is complete, print out the confirmation page at the end and turn it in at North Campus on Wednesday, Aug. 9-11, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Parents who need to print registration documents or need help with online registration, a computer lab will be available Thursday, Aug. 10 from 2 - 6 p.m. only.
  • Go to the North Campus webpage and click on the Registration link. Click on “Student Signature Page.” This must be printed out, signed by both parent and student, and turned in at registration.

DPHS-SOUTH CAMPUS

Deer Park High School – South Campus

All registration handouts and information can be found on our campus webpage under the “Registration” link. Please use the information below to navigate through the registration process:

Early Registration Schedule – South Campus

Registration will be held at South Campus. Enter school through SOUTH entrance.

  • Thursday, Aug. 3,    Noon - 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 4,   8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Step #1 – Use Skyward login Information found at the bottom of the final report card to log in and complete online registration.
  • Step #2 – Print confirmation page at the end of online registration and turn in at registration.
  • Step #3 – Go to the South Campus webpage and click on the “Registration” link.
  • Step #4– Click on “Student Signature Page.” This must be printed out, signed by both the parent and the student, and turned in at registration.

*If you need to print or need help with online registration, computer labs will be available on the registration dates.

All other student information can be located on the “Registration” page: parking permits, athletic paperwork, counselor information, iPad information, senior information, My School Bucks, maps, bell schedule, attendance information, library information, and student guidelines.

DPHS-WOLTERS CAMPUS

Students selected to return to Deer Park High School – Wolters Campus will be contacted by email regarding early registration. Registration begins on Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Students must be present to register and are requested to be appropriately dressed and clean shaven for student ID pictures.

Students wanting to enroll in Wolters for the 2023-24 school year who did not attend Wolters last year must attend an orientation before they will be accepted.

Orientation Dates:
July 20 - 10 a.m.
July 26 - 2 p.m.
Aug. 1 - 5:30 p.m.

WHICH SCHOOL SHOULD MY CHILD ATTEND?

The District is divided into a number of attendance zones that are assigned to corresponding schools. WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?

  • Pre-kindergarten (at Early Childhood Center): 7:20 a.m.-2:50 p.m.
  • Elementary schools (grades K-5): 7:40 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Junior high schools (grades 6-8): 8:10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • High school (grades 9-12): 8:40 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

WHAT IS THE BUS SCHEDULE?

Deer Park ISD provides bus transportation to and from school as a service for eligible students residing in the District. Eligible students are defined by District policy as those who legally reside 1.5 or more miles from his or her assigned campus of regular attendance (home campus) as measured along the shortest route that may be traveled on public roads.

During the school year, students should arrive about five minutes early at the designated bus stop closest to their home. Students must register through the DPISD website in order to receive bus service. Information about requesting Bus Service can be found at www.dpisd.org/busrequest/.

Students must ride their assigned bus unless they have a note signed by a campus principal or assistant principal. Students who are not bus eligible (legally reside too close to their home campus, out of district, or in another attendance zone) may not ride a bus to or from school unless they have a signed note by a principal or assistant principal.

WHAT ITEMS ARE ON THE SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST?

School supply lists vary from school to school. They will be posted on each campus website as they become available.

WHAT IS THE DISTRICT DRESS CODE?

Any clothing, insignia, or hairstyle that is unconventional and distracts from teaching and learning is unacceptable. The principal or designee is authorized to determine the suitability of student attire and grooming.

Hair

  • The hair shall be neat, clean, and well-groomed. Mohawks are not allowed.
  • Bandanas, hair rollers, or long-handled combs shall not be worn in the hair.
  • Good grooming includes being clean-shaven at all times.
    • Students with a dermatologist exemption for shaving must comply with the following procedures:
      • Students will be required to keep their beard groomed with a trimmer.
      • Students will not be allowed to sculpt their beard with a razor.
      • Students will be required to visit their doctor every four weeks and provide continued documentation detailing the exemption.

Failure to comply with these procedures will result in a violation of the dress code resulting in a discipline consequence outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Clothing

  • Clothing shall be appropriately sized. The principal or designee is authorized to determine what is appropriately sized.
  • Pants may not have holes that expose the skin above the knee. All clothing, including dresses, skirts, and shorts, shall preserve modesty. The length must be no shorter than midpoint between fingertips and top of the knee.
  • Any student that violates this rule twice when wearing shorts, miniskirts, or skirts with slits may lose the privilege of wearing shorts, miniskirts, or skirts with slits for the remainder of the school year.
The following types of dress are unacceptable:
  • Hats, caps, or other head coverings
  • Any clothing that does not preserve modesty, including, but not limited to bicycle pants, lycra/spandex clothing, athletic shorts, miniskirts, pants, or combination thereof
  • Oversized or baggy pants. Pants or shorts shall be worn at the natural waistline. (Belts may be required when deemed necessary.)
  • Bare backs, bare midriffs, and completely bare shoulders
  • Low necklines and see-through attire
  • Ragged (i.e., cutoffs, unhemmed clothing, etc.), torn, or soiled clothing
  • Clogs, flip flops, slides, bathroom slippers, and similar footwear (Shoes must be worn.)
  • Clothing or decoration on clothing exhibiting implicitly or explicitly suggestive words, phrases, or pictures
  • Clothing, apparel, or jewelry that signifies death, suicide, torture, Satanism, or occult (This includes, but is not limited to, concert shirts, patches, and insignias depicting any of the above.)
  • Clothing or decoration on clothing implying or stating membership in a secret group or society
  • Clothing that implies or alludes to alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or tobacco
  • Going without undergarments
  • Tank tops and muscle shirts - must have the layered look and shoulders must be covered with a shirt
  • Earring(s) or gauges worn by boys
  • Nose ring(s) and similar body piercing
  • Long trench coat or similar clothing
  • Tattoos and body art of any kind must be covered at all times
  • Unnatural colored eye contacts.

Additional Programs and Information

PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM OFFERED FOR STUDENTS WITH LIMITED INCOME, LIMITED ENGLISH SKILLS

Registration for students qualifying for enrollment in the District’s prekindergarten program will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at Deer Park High School – South Campus, 710 W. San Augustine, Deer Park, TX 77536.

All pre-kindergarten programs will be housed at the Early Childhood Center and at Parkwood Elementary.

A child is eligible for free prekindergarten if they are four years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year and meets one of the seven criteria listed below. Age is always calculated as of Sept. 1, of the current school year (for purposes of establishing eligibility). Therefore, a child is eligible for enrollment in prekindergarten if at least four years of age on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year and:

  • is unable to speak and comprehend the English language;
  • is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student who is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program);
  • is living in emergency shelter or transitional housing
  • is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States;
  • is the child of a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while on active duty;
  • is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code; or
  • is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:
    • a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code;
    • a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or
    • an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code.

To complete registration, parents must bring the following items on the day of registration:

  • Certified Birth Certificate - Texas birth certificates may be obtained online at www.texas.gov
  • Immunization Record
  • Picture ID of parent or legal guardian registering the student
  • Proof of income or SNAP
  • Proof of residency in the Deer Park School District – at least one of the following documents:
    • Deed or current mortgage statement
    • Property tax statement
    • Current lease agreement with one current utility bill with address

The prekindergarten curriculum focuses on the development of oral language and reading readiness skills which serve as a foundation for future academic success. The program is operated on a full-day basis. The State Legislature determines the guidelines for admission into the prekindergarten program. When any Texas school district has 16 or more children who are identified as limited English proficient or as a member of a low-income family (qualifying for free/reduced lunch), that district is required by state law to offer a prekindergarten program to those identified students. The State of Texas does not provide for free public prekindergarten beyond these two categories of students. Deer Park Early Childhood Center does not offer Open Enrollment. You must reside within the Deer Park ISD boundaries to attend the Early Childhood Center. Further questions can be directed to the Early Childhood Center at 832.668.8390.

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERS RANGE OF SUPPORT TO STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Deer Park ISD provides special education services to children in the District from birth through 21 years of age who are identified with disabilities. Students are provided specialized instruction to allow them to access and learn the curriculum. All services are provided at no cost to the individual or parents. Any parent of a child who is having difficulty in school (including private and home school) should contact their school counselor to discuss their concerns regarding the student’s academic performance and the need for possible interventions.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR DISABLED CHILDREN AGES 3-5

The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program is available for children with disabilities ages 3-5 who reside in Deer Park ISD. Youngsters who may experience developmental difficulties upon entering regular elementary school programs because of physical, mental, emotional, or language and/or learning difficulties may be candidates for this program. Parents who have a concern about their child’s development may call 832.668.8399.

DISTRICT ANNOUNCES MEAL PRICES

The District’s Child Nutrition Department has announced cafeteria prices for the 2023-24 school year. Breakfast will be offered at no charge to all schools except DPHS-South Campus. Breakfast at South Campus will cost $2.75 and lunch will cost $4.00. Lunch at all elementary schools will cost $2.35, and lunch at all junior high schools will cost $2.50. Lunch at DPHS-North Campus will cost $2.60. Reduced-price is $.30 for breakfast (South only) and $.40 for lunch (All Campuses). More information on items and pricing will be included in registration packets or is available by contacting Child Nutrition at 832.668.7049.
